RE: I Screwed Up
In order to persuade you to work for our company over our competitors, our company marketing promoted the idea that our employees are valuable to our organization, that they are a key strategic resource. The recent layoffs, which followed immediately after the slightest hint of bad economic news, may have suggested otherwise, but we really, really want to show we care about you, our beloved employee. To this end, the training group is preparing to focus more on management and supervisory training.
We have been horribly remiss in not doing this sooner. We realize that we have inadequately prepared you project managers for your duties. We have expected you to learn on the job. We have not given you the time you needed for training in these specialized skills. You have looked to your own supervisors for guidance, but they were, let's just say, not the best models.
This has alienated some of our best workers and stifled innovation, productivity and performance. We believe that this management training will improve your job satisfaction and performance--at least until the next round of layoffs is announced
