Do project managers spend 8 hours efficiently every day

I personally feel 80% of the project managers work without any support of project management tool(excpt Excel, Word). They spend their office hours in activities like issue resolution, excel based reporting and many more which are important for the organization, project at that point of time. They delegate tool specific activities to leads working under them.
I feel these routine activities doesn't given any professional advantage to project managers in long run, they need to equip themselves with management tools and need to generate enormous value for the organization by generating valuable data for decision making and improvements.

Excel is a wonderful tool for project management!

A person who does what you have mentioned above is not a Project manager! If he is designated as PM then, it just reflects something else!!

You are very true! Also as I said earlier those people cannot be called as Project managers, as they dont do any project management related activities!
