So, I tried creating a GIG, now what?

The post "Drawing people to your GIG" (http://www.gantthead.com/discussions/discu...r.cfm?ID=10688) mentions two strategies, which both pose a problem:

1. Invite people from my network -- the problem is, I don't have any network at this point. Maybe I should have started by building a network first?

2. Search for people who might be interested in the topic -- so, since I wanted to create a local GIG, I searched by location -- and there are a zillion members just within 20 miles of my zip code.
