Replacing a VAX system

I have joined a project in midstream, and keeping the old VAX system running while we finish the project has become a problem.
Finding parts for things like tape drives, printers, CPU, etc is a nightmare for the M&O folks.
Has anyone else run across this? What's the best place to find bandaids for VAX systems so we can finish without that added crisis?

Thanks in advance.

Oh, dear.
If it that bad, I would do a daily dump to ACII tapeformat off all your data. That way when it "really" dies you can re-load it onto some other system/server and go on without a loss of data.

I did check and see that there are at least 4 Vax parts dealers listed under search.yahoo.com But you need get moving. When the supporting company goes out of business your in danger of losing your data.

I'd like to know what has happened since you started this. I agree that you could do a daily dump. You could then FTP it out of there. What about loading up an Alpha? Those are newer and better machines. Even Microvaxes are possibly good options. You didn't say what Vax you have.
