(من كتاب : عندما تتصادم الثقافات ، ريتشارد د. لويس). يؤثر الاختلاف في ثقافة الناس بشكل كبير على كيفية رؤية الناس بعضهم البعض من منظور الأخلاقيات ، وهذا يعطي في بعض الأحيان تصورات مختلفة عن نفس الموقف و جمعية إدارة المشاريع كمنظمة عالمية تجمع القادة ، ومديري المشاريع ، والمديرين التنفيذيين يجب أن يكون لدى أعضاؤها إدراك متزايد بالاختلافات بين الثقافات حول العالم و كيف يمكننا فهمها و التعامل معها. قد يكون الأمر محيرًا لمديري المشروعات والممارسين عندما يتعاملون مع ناس من مختلف الثقافات فعلى سبيل المثال ، في حين أن العقد يعني للسويسري ، والأمريكي وثيقة رسمية تم التوقيع عليها ويجب الالتزام بها و هذا يعطيه شعوراً بأن الأمر قد انتهى بمجرد توقع العقد و لن تناقش بنود العقد مرة أخرى و هو ملزم للجميع و لكن بالنسية للياباني فإنه ينظر إلى العقد كوثيقة ابتدائية قد يعاد كتابتها وتعديلها حسب ما تتطلبه الظروف و في نفس الوقت نرى أن للإيطاليين آراء مرنة حول مفهوم العقد و القانون و ما هو أخلاقي وما هو غير ذلك ، و هذا الأمر قد يتسبب أحيانًا في جعل الأوروبيين الشماليين يشكون نزاهة الإيطاليون عندما يكون هناك مرونة في تطبيق القوانين و يعتبرونهم أقل مثالية من السويسريين ، ولكن من وجهة نظر الإيطاليون، فهم أخلاقيون تمامًا. في معظم الأحيان ، يرى المنتمين الى ثقافة معينه أنفسهم أخلاقيون ويرون الآخرين على أنهم غير أخلاقيين في بعض المواقف و لكن بدراسة الثقافات المختلفة فقد ينقلب الموضوع رأسًا على عقب. هذا هو التحدي الذي نواجهه عندما نحكم على أساس رؤيتنا و قيمنا ونتجاهل كيف ينظر الآخرون إلى نفس الوضع و لهذا فإن فهم السلوكيات والعقليات والتوقعات الخاصة بالثقافات الأخرى أمر مهم للغاية ، و يجب علينا أن نتذكر عدم السماح للتعميم الغير قائم على دراسات جيدة بجعلنا نضع مفاهيم و احكام مسبقة على ناس من ثقافة معينة مما يجعلنا احياناً نتحيز مع أو ضد معتقداتهم و قيمهم. لذا يجب أن نبقى منفتحين على الثقافات والقيم الأخرى لأن هذا سيؤدى الى معرفة الإختلافات و فهم الاخرين خاصة و نحن بحاجة لمحاولة الاعتقاد في الخير في الناس. و السؤال هنا هو كيف يمكن لمديري المشاريع قيادة فريق متعدد الثقافات دون معرفة قيمهم الأساسية؟ القائد الحقيقي هو الشخص الذي يستطيع فهم هذه الجوانب ويمكنه رؤية الأشياء من منظور مختلف. في العصر الحالي من العولمة ، وجدنا في معظم مدراء المشاريع ا يعملون مع أشخاص من ثقافات وشخصيات مختلفة ، فإذا لم يكن لدى مدير المشروع علم بالثقافات المختلفة لأعضاء فريق عمله و يتجاهل هذه الفروقات و يتعامل معهم كما لو كانوا فقط أعداد ، فهذا يجعل لأعضاء الفريق أن يشعروا بسهولة بعدم احترام لثقافتهم الخاصة وقيمهم. تغطي هذه المحاضرة جانبين من مثلث المهارات الخاص بجمعية إدارة المشاريع و هما القيادة ، وتحت القيادة ، يندرج التوجيه و والإرشاد ، وإدارة النزاعات ، والذكاء العاطفي ، والتأثير ، والمهارات الشخصية ، والاستماع ، وحل المشكلات ، وبناء الفريق ، والتفاوض و الجانب الاخر هو الجانب الإستراتيجي وإدارة الأعمال ، وهو يغطي علاقة العملاء و التسويق لأفكارالمشروع في الثقافات المختلفة. هذه المحاضرة ستغطي الخصائص الفردية و كيف أنها مهمة للغاية و كيف أنها مفيدة للغاية عندما يكون هناك فهم مشترك نسبيًا لمقصودها ومعناها و ستوضح المحاضرة أنه على الرغم من اختلاف الثقافات و القيم و المفاهيم و لكن يجب أن يكون هناك أرضية مشتركة يمكن أن يلتقي فيها جميع الأطراف.
