Question Your Hard Work to Keep Your Virtual Team Performing During Control Stage

Your Assessment Strategy
First, a brief word on your assessment strategy. If you haven't made the the personal transition to evaluate performance using worker results, and you still like checking factors such as whether workers come in to work on time and leave on time, then you have a hard road ahead managing a virtual team. Take the easier route by evaluating the quality of team member deliverables and interactions.

Reiterating Expectations
Without the common, informal checks and balances of teams with co-located members, the virtual team can find itself off track. It may be due to lack of focus on objectives. It may be that the wrong objectives are given a higher priority to specific members. Whatever the problem is, it can be minimized by reiterating the objectives regularly and checking for understanding and agreement. Do this in meetings and written communications.
