As we came to the end of 2012, I reflected on my accomplishments as a project manager and made a plan to set new personal growth and development goals and objectives.

Learning and leading go hand in hand and if I wanted to prepare for a great year in 2013; I needed to reflect back to move forward.

One of the books I reviewed late last year was called "The Character Based Leader" by The Lead Change Group.  The Lead Change Group was founded by Mike Henry Sr. and he was nice enough to release a copy for this review.

"As soon as I opened the book it was like an old friend opening a door welcoming me to pull up a chair, sit back and savor my latté.  As my hand gently flipped each page; I felt the trust and influence in the stories embrace me with purpose, passion and an urgency to breathe and be in the moment.  This book awakened my inner spirit!

It  takes a community to engage us in our legacy.  Twenty one thought leaders and story tellers wove an intimate, intentional, inclusive book about our inner being - our character.  Engaging and interactively communicating messages from the heart, theory and reflections from life's experiences and truths from their souls about a widely discussed topic - leadership.  It is an anthology, a collection of stories, a new tool for a project managers' toolkit and a heartfelt synthesis of real world views.  Each story guides us to lead from the heart, to listen to our inner critic and to mold ourselves into a better vision of ourselves - a character based leader.

It was a pause for reflection to know that a motivational speaker,  a pastor, a women coach, and management change consultant spoke volumes to me as a thought leader, project manager and woman entrepreneur.

I highly recommend this book to aspiring project/program managers who wish to grow their leadership skills one day at a time."

Let 2013, be the year of change and renewal - be the best leader you can be every day.
