Hi & Good day to all,

There a lot of things that you can do to collect hours for your require to renew your PDU. For me it is what you doing on daily task in your job. Many things that you do that related to project management can be registered in the PDUs. The total PDUs requires for PMP is 60 PDUs. As member for PMI, you can upload & register your PDUs via online.

The activities that can register in the PDUs like training, technical meeting, facilitator, project meeting and etc. However all the PDUs shall cover in Education & Giving Back. For me i have conducted many trainings for the pass 3 years, so most of PDUs captured for renew my PMP certification is from training that i conducted. Apart from that, whenever you giving back via training you actually learn more & giving you more depth in understanding the project management knowledge area. The PDUs element captured as below & breakdown in details in the criteria;

  1.  Education
    • Leadership
    • Technical
    • Strategic & business
  2. Giving Back
    • Work as practitioner
    • other giving back

You'll definitely can have better understanding the PMBOK itself & sometimes the question from trainee is something that you're not think aware of it before. This actually provide new spectrum of understanding on project management based on Q&Q during the training.

Among other activities that you can register for PDUs is any day to day activities as such attending meeting, conducted discussion, informal training i.e reading books and etc. However, please ensure that you keep any evidences for all activities that you've stated above. Even though from the register of the PDU online not require for you to attach the evidence, but it is good for your to ensure that all of your activities collected for PDUs is tracking & captured.

It is my time to renew my PMP after 3 years, and it is good experience & learning curve for this period. Project Management is also a skills

Categories: Motivation

Assalamualaikum & Good day to all,

It has been awhile i'm not write up any article in this blog. This time i would like to share some of my thoughts about project management skills. For me, the interesting part about project management is that, it is a skills which you can gain along the way while you handling any projects. But again, you also need to sharpen you skills by attending trainings, classes & attending any short course in project management.

People may underestimate the job that related to Project Management but for me the mastermind for each of project to success is depending on how well the project management is being implemented in any project. People might not aware that they are handling projects in day to day of their work. But somehow, the skills that they implemented while handling project just coincidence and not refer to best practices such as translated in the Project Management Book. For me it is good guidance and reference inside PMBOK, it provides us with the correct method & technique in handling project.

For me, from time to time, you need to sharpen your skills in project management. Likewise for those need to gauge your capability in project management, you may enrol for PMP and PMI-RMP as what I did. It is a long journey for me to pass for both examination  that are PMP & PMI-RMP, but it is worth for me. It thought me that there are still a lot of things that you'd to learn in project management.

The knowledge in project management is wide which sometimes you'd never know the branches of it. I hope we continue to learn and sharpen our skills in project management and always look for reference from best GURUs in project management.

Project management institute (PMI) definitely the best centre to provide you the knowledge that you need. By having member of PMI for many years, I have gained a lot of knowledge and I do learn from the best trainer that I got from online likewise free webinar and etc.

I hope we continue to share the knowledge among us & together we unite to bring "Project Management" as terminology that everyone need to know & made them know the importance of project management even in their daily life.

Kindly share your thoughts in comments & i hope we can continue sharing our experience in this projectmanagement.com

Thank You.

Passing PMI-RMP exam

Categories: Motivation

Dear all and good day,

Alhamdulillah, I've passing my PMI-RMP exam last January 2017. Apart from that, the same month 2016, I have passed PMP exam. Every year, I managed to get 1 credential from PMI. Even though, no promotions from my company once I passing every credential, it is okay, because I did it not for something else but for my personal development and satisfaction. We might not to do all just for money right in term of rewards but for long term target. Once you have this kind of credential, you value is increased and for future it will benefit to you. Also, from the thing that I learnt in PMI-RMP, it gave me a lot understanding on managing risk.

This risk management knowledge areas will definitely assist me on daily works that I did for my worked. I will use it in my daily routine works and it helps me a lot honestly. Sometimes i did also promoting this PMI-RMP to my friends, because the more people understanding on the concept and the correct way managing risk, then it will helps the project to complete better to achieve cost, scope and quality that we have planned.

Apart from that for Malaysian, I do suggest below training centre EPM that approved by PMI for your next training or plan to do PMI-RMP credential. They have good system and even do have online exam preparation for me. Please find below my short testimony to them and you may contact Haliza for details.

First of all, I would like to thanks to EPM to give opportunity to take PMI-RMP course with EPM. It is my second course with EPM after the PMP Boot Camp course. It is great to deal with this institutions since it is provide good supporting during my inquiry for any course conducted and the staffs also very helpful.

I attended the PMI-RMP course in 2016, and for my application,  PMI did some random checking on my application which EPM did assist on the documents require to send to PMI (hardcopy). Finally my application approved and can start plan for examination date. In general, the book that I referred most is the one provided during course by EPM and training pack as well.

I do a lot of study for this exam, and do a few times exercise for the same examination questions to gauge my understanding.  Which at first most of my score mark either exam via EPM website or sample questions bank by EPM, the result below 75%. But a month before the exam, the same question, I managed to score above 90%. By the time, it has built my confident to ready for the exam.

In summary for exam prep for PMI-RMP :

1. Study all chapter in the Risk management.

2. Understanding the concept and its application.

3. A lot of questions regarding Monte Carlo, thus require to do a lot of study in this chapter.

4. Take a rest a few days before exam since you will require a lot of focus during 3.5hr exam.

In general from oil and gas industry,  I do recommended EPM as good training provider. You may follow this link for details http://empowerpm.com/.

Thanks.
