Drawing people to your GIG

Once you've opened your GIG and added some content, it's pretty easy to
just walk away and hope people will come. To some degree they might, but it will be a slow process. One of the fastest ways to get people to join is to invite them. So in the upper right hand corner of your GIG you'll see (if you are an admin in that GIG) an option to "invite people to join" menu item. Click on that and it will bring you to this screen, which allows you to invite the people you are directly connected to:

The second tab option on this page, however, is much more powerful. It gives you the option to SEARCH all of gantthead for people that might be interested in your group and invite them as well.

We ask that you select each one individually because we don't want everyone inviting every gantthead member to every group - but it still gives you an easy way to attract lots of people.

I am trying to invite people that are not in my network but on the page where I select them there is no button to click to send the invite? is it an error or do I need to have another coffee and spot the obvious?

Hi Richard,

I just had customer service log in as you and try it. They invited page one of the people from the UK and it seemed to work as usual. The way we did it was to:

1. Click on the "search all ganttheads" tab.

2. Select "United Kingdom" as the location.

3. Click on the "search" button.

4. Check off the users you want to invite, using the checkboxes next to their pictures.

5. Click on the black "send invite" button at the bottom of the screen.

Have the techies been fiddling? went to invite some more people to my GIG today and the list of possible invitees now includes people already invited. Up until friday once I had invited someone they didnt appear on the list of potential invitees thus making it easy for me to invite people slowly and know where I had got up to. Can this be put back to how it was?

You are absolutely right - the techies have been fiddling this weekend. It seemed to be a source of confusion about why certain people were not showing up in the search, so we changed it to only exclude people who had actually joined the GIG rather than everyone who had been invited. Richard - you have a point. What does everyone think? Should we change it back? (Personally, I'd rather have it work the way it used to).

And by the way, it's very satisfying to hear that changes that we make are noticed so quickly.
