Seeking PM Mentor with Experience in Aviation Sector
Network:7

I am currently taking Project Management in Aviation Operations through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and am required to find a PM in the aviation sector that can be a mentor over the next nine weeks. This would require the mentor and I to be able to hold weekly discussions where I we can discuss project management and the unique challenges and experiences of project management within the aviation sector. These discussions can be held online or through the phone and should take no longer than an hour. A list of questions that will be discussed over the next nine weeks can be seen below. If anyone is interested and willing in providing some mentorship it would be greatly appreciated.

Week 1:
What does Project Management mean to you?
What is a Project?
What makes aviation projects unique?
Does organizational structure impact projects?

Week 2:
What leads to aviation project success?  To aviation project failure?
Where do projects come from (project selection)?
How do you capture project requirements?  Do you use charters, WBSs, and network diagrams?

Week 3:
What lessons can you share about requirements identification/management?
What lessons can you share about stakeholder management?
Are aviation projects unique in any of the above?

Week 4:
What lessons can you share about Work Breakdown Structures?
What lessons can you share about scope management?
Are aviation projects unique in any of the above?
Are aviation projects unique in any of the above?

Week 5:
What lessons can you share about project estimation?
What lessons can you share about project schedule management?
What lessons can you share about project resource management?
Are aviation projects unique in any of the above?

Week 6:
What lessons can you share about project cost management?
What lessons can you share about communication management?
Are aviation projects unique in any of the above?

Week 7:
What lessons can you share about project risk management?
What lessons can you share about project recovery/project failure?
Are aviation projects unique in any of the above?

Week 8:
What lessons can you share about monitoring your project?
What lessons can you share about communicating the status of your project?
Are aviation projects unique in any of the above?

Week 9:
Share your completed project plan with your mentor. Are these the right things to examine when considering taking on an aviation project? Is there anything missing?

Hi Daniel,

I guess that any project manager could help you, I mean, is not necessary to get mentorship from an aviation project manager only, a different point of view is well received as well. I'm a master in project management and I could share with you any knowledge and help that you need, but I've never worked on Aviation projects.

Jesus,

I would definitely appreciate any knowledge and experience you have to offer, however, the instructions for this course assignment states that the mentor must have experience with Project Management specifically in the aviation sector.
