We just use PDF documents that are available online in the project data base. In case we do have a presentation, we certainly do use PowerPoint.
Just to avoid some missunderstanding outside there a project plan is a document where you have all related to the knwoledge areas you will cover into your project. A project plan must ask five principal questions: what? who? how? when? how much it cost?. With that on mind I use powerpoint, no more than 5-6 slides, to explain that.
100% dependent on the project and the stakeholders. For some, it's as simple as a 1 page 4-square PowerPoint. For more involved projects it might be an interactive digital dashboard built in-house.
We normally use PowerPoint presentation.

PowerPoint with MS project dashboard reports inserted into the presentation.
I find it interesting that the replies all use PowerPoint or some other tool like PDF to capture the underlying data in a presentation style format. I've seen some push to go away from that as it's non-value-added (i.e. the customer wouldn't pay more for PowerPoint slides), and to instead use the planning and control tools directly rather than create more work to build presentations.
I realize there are issues with that as well, like maintaining records of where things were at a given point, but with all the software PMs I'm a bit surprised that more aren't working to get away from the "digital viewfoil" technology.
PP and MS Project.

In one of my most recent roles, we started with a Steering Group slide deck which included views from a MS Project plan, and a number of detail slides, to a 1-slide weekly summary to a "can you include the top items in the text of the email". This coming from our top manager.
Many organizations also shy away from the cost of licensing for certain tools or the effort to develop and maintain automated dashboards. As a result, you are stuck have to extract information to PDF or PPT to share with stakeholders outside the direct project arena.
