I will try and pursue the certifications:

PMI-PBA & CBAP
PgMP

We do lots of Business Analysis and I manage programs as well so I would like to enhance my horizon and knowledge in those fields.

How about you Lori ?

Hello Rami: I think you will do very well obtaining these certifications and I hope you share on these discussions boards how that went and what you learned. Because I am considering new goals for 2019 I thought I would ask my peers what their goals are. I've been in healthcare for about 30 years and have been in some form of project management for about 15 years. I am trying to think about what is next for me. Your responses and the responses from others on this site will be helpful as I keep an open mind and begin planning what next year will look like.

Focusing on internal and career growth. There are a couple initiatives I’m working on and some interesting areas for opportunity. 2019 looks to be a promising year. Looking forward to it.

I think it is time for me to look for a new job. I have been feeling stagnant for awhile. The past year +, I have focused on certifications and marketing myself. Now it is time to move on. Depending how this goes, I may also look to adding a PMI-PBA certification later on, or if I find a job with a PMO, I may go for the COBIT certification. I am keeping an open mind right now and seeing where the universe takes me.

I have changed my employee this year - after working almost 22 years for my old one! - and I can tell, it was the best decision I have made for a long time!

I am sure you will make a similar experience and I wish you all the best, therefore!

Hello Dinah: It sounds like you are at a crossroads and looking ahead to map out your course. The company I work for is in the midst of a merger with change being a frequently used word in the office. I wonder what 2019 will bring for me and my career, but I find you to wanting to take charge of your destiny. Please keep us posted on where you land and what opportunities you receive!

Hi Dinah, good luck with the new job search!

Hi Dinah, I know exactly what you mean. The year before this I spent not really being in a role where I can deliver and I have moved to a new company (very small) and they are really not wanting to change their ways i.e. processes & structure.
I think to answer the original question I need to spend 2019 growing my credentials making sure I deliver the projects I am assigned, then look to 2020 as the year I really kick-on.

Ben, I think I am just a year ahead of you. Now that I have the credentials and a bit more experience, it is time to find a place where I can excel. I thought I had an opportunity with the PMO that we are starting at my current job, but that is not working out as I had hoped.

I have actually been a PM for a few years now, but I took a job which like you has not worked out as I hoped, and ended up almost wasting a year there on false promises, but I since have taken a new role which I want to restart my career a little as I have the opportunity to deliver on a number of projects.
I also want to spend this year ensuring that I am as up to date with my credentials as possibly too, I have started the Six Sigma home learning course which is very interesting. But I also want to look at doing PMP in the not to distant future.
I hope your search for the right role comes up soon Dinah.

sounds like a good plan. I have made the experience that my PMP credentials have been very helpful while finding a new job and of course while the salary negotiations too. ;)
Best of luck!

Thank you.
It is always scary/stressful to change jobs, especially after being in the same one for 11 years.
I just need to take a deep breath and jump.
