Data science education for project managers
Network:73

Hi everyone!

I'm interested in studying data science applied for project management (if such thing exists). I saw some masters that take 2 years and I'm wondering if there are shorter courses that I could take that are applied for a specific field. I don't want to become a D. scientist but use some of the analytical tools in our field.

Does anyone know if there are crash courses or bootcamps available? If you attended these courses, could recommend a school?

Thanks!

Sergio,
I would be very skeptical of any crash course in data science. You might gain some knowledge of how various off-the-shelf tools work, but having taken a couple masters level courses in the subject, understanding what those tools are doing mathematically, and whether you should trust the outputs is a very complicated subject. In one numerical analysis course that was essentially how to fit equations to describe large datasets, 2/3 of the masters students dropped out.

It is an extremely valuable skillset to have in the job market, but a deeper understanding than pushing buttons is very involved, and why so few have that skillset.

Thanks for the comment Keith. I agree it is a very complicated subject and I don’t like to take shortcuts and I was wondering if there is something that could be tailored for project management.
