Dears,
I'm going to have my PMP exam next month. I have read PMbok and used some online sources . Kindly could you advise me on the main references/books that still I need to go through?

I have been advised to use Rita Mulchay. Based on experience, which should I used online or book and what is the last edition?

Regards,
Riad

Dear,

PMBOK is master of all and all other books are based on PMBOK only with more example and with more explanation, you start practicing mock paper based on that you are able to judge your understanding and gaps, wherever there is a gap, again go through PMBOK and other many reference stuff available online but only I suggest read the latest stuff which on based on PMBOK 6. Rita Mulcahy is one of the good reference books but you decide based on your understanding gap and you are not getting clarity from PMBOK.

I'd highly recommend read and pass for PMP notes. Reading Rita Mulcahy is great if you have experience and an understanding of project management. Read and Pass notes is simple and very well written; Excellent for anyone who is new to project management.

Riad,
The most useful thing for me was not reading everything available, but rather finding a number of free online practice exams to show me what specific subjects I should study. Get a question wrong or uncertain about an answer? Go study that section.

HI Marlene,

Great article. That sounded great to me. Thank you for sharing that.

One question though: I only studied PMBOK and I took Joseph's Udemy course for 35h.
I saw you used Rita's book as well...but I also found two more options:

PMP Exam Prep Simplified: Based on PMBOK® Guide Sixth Edition 6th Edition Edition
by Andrew Ramdayal
and
The PMP Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try, Sixth Edition
by Andy Crowe

Should I go for Rita's, shouldn't I?

Thank you,

I've passed the PMP exam a week ago.

Personally I've studied both
-Rita Mulcahy :PMP Exam Prep 9th ed.
-PMBok 6th ed

To be ready for the exam I suggest you to test your knowledge with on line simulators as the questions on the exam are situational for the most.
I suggest you PM Prepcast as their tests are very similar to the real test, scoring an average 75% on 1200 PM Prepcast questions, I've passed the exam with 4 above target and 1 on target for the knowledge areas.

Good luck for your exam.

Hi Diego,
Congratulations and thanks for update.

How long preparation for the PMP took?

I have a difficulty to memorize the inputs, tools, outputs , how did you manage them?

Thanks,
Riad

Due to my personal and work commitments it take me about 5 months.

I think is impossible to memorize all the ITTO's (at least for me),I've focused on keys ones.
Anyhow I've discovered that Is very important to understand in which part of the project You are in the situation described by the question, so you can identify the correct answer.

In addition to the PMBok and Rita books, I found the three books by Aileen Ellis to be very helpful. they're cheap and easy to read.
