Thoughts on the new PMI brand?
Network:1706

I'm sure most of you have noticed the update to PMI's logo and the look & feel of the site which is tied to PMI's brand refresh.

What are your initial impressions?

I did notice that. Initially, I thought there were some problems with content loading on the webpage. Then I saw there was some reformatting.

I may have missed an article that explains the new logo, but I'm not sure what each of the symbols represents. If you were part of the team to update this Kiron or you know what the symbols mean would you please let us know. Thanks.

Dear Kiron. I created a post about it because I had not seen your
I was surprised by the change in the PMI logo.
Most surprised I was because there was no public debate (members) about these changes
What is the significance of this change in the PMI logo?

This is in line with this weekend's Global Conference and the 50th Anniversary celebration, at least my take. I'm sure we'll hear something about it over the weekend.

I've only seen the change on mobile. Colors are different. I get a sense there is a theme of diversity and it ties into the recent exam change announcements, PMBOK v7, and acquisitions. We'll see though! Those were my initial impressions.

Did you hear about the 7th edition of PMBOK Guide this weekend?

@Andrew, @Kiron, @Luis,

If you three are together at PMI World maybe you can put together an article that addresses the questions posted in this thread. I'm sure there are thousands of people who would want to know the background, what the symbols mean and why the change now?

@Luis, The brand refresh was announced on August 9th in PMInsight. From what I have seen, PMI dot’s their I’s and crosses their T’s on all projects, makings sure they practice what the body of knowledge preaches. So, I’m comfortable they had plenty of debate and feedback regarding the new brand both internally and externally.

My initial take on the new logo is its abstract nature, and as such it is likely making a statement of separation – meaning that the brand is saying “we are not the PMI of the past”. This would line up with new products they are rolling out, some of which are being discussed at the conference which are geared to provide their customers (i.e. us) with a “personalized experience centered on sustained, meaningful and relevant engagement throughout their career” (stealing a statement from a recent announcement), versus their current “transactional” approach.

I’m sure they will be discussing this with clarity during the conference.

Dear George
I didn't get a chance to see the announcement on PMInsight.
At the African Conference not a word about it.
This Conference was attended by 14 chapters from Africa, 13 Presidents of Chapters, many Vice Presidents and about 250 people.
Also present at this Conference was PMI President Sunil Prashara.
It's just that George doesn't feel very comfortable with "do what I say ..."
Honestly ... I don't feel.

That sounds feasible @George Freeman , however 'abstract' stuff is not really a good association with PMing. The PMI is not a startup and it's all about professionalism, not 'fun' designs that cater to a more social media approach.
