The benefit of in-person is the in-person effect. Also, networking, after class time with other students or the teacher, etc.

If none of that matters, save the extra cost and go virtual. With how things are going right now, may not have a choice in for the near future.
It would depend on the personality type. Some people take in information much better in a physical environment where they can interact directly with instructors and/or fellow students. But there are others who can do this in a virtual environment. Using a virtual environment takes a bit more effort and discipline. So I do not think there is a better option but rather a better fit for your personality.
Thank you all for your input. I see the value in both methods. Given the current circumstances along the northeast (NY/NJ) specifically with university class cancellations due to COVID19, this may very well be an online endeavor for me.
