Does anyone took part on the Tokyo Olympic games (on Telecom side) and could share best practises
Dear all,

Fisrt of all, Happy New Year 2021 to everyone and to your relatives.

As Orange Group is involved on the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 (if everything goes well ...), I'm looking for people from the Tokyo Olympic Games "2020" to share the best practises or the lessons learned, during the preparation of this big event. I'm also open to advice from people who took part in previous Olympic Games.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Luc Bernard LEFEBVRE

Isn't it common practice for the organizers from one host city to share their playbook with the next host city to ensure that those lessons do get passed along? I'm sure I'd read that somewhere...

Hello Kiron,

Thank you for your feedback and I confirm that there is a relation between the previous "organisations" with the new ones.

Currently, I haven't seen any lessons learned and I thought that it was a good opportunity to share with the community to see if someone can provide a "direct" help. Particularly on the telecom side.

But I will ask internally, to see if someone from the company made a request about this subject.

Best regards,

Luc Bernard
Hello Luc -

The 9 December 2020 Virtual Experience Series featured Christophe Dubi (Olympic Games Executive Director. Global Sports Leader. Manager of Projects.) as a main stage speaker discussing the logistics of the Tokyo Olympics with our CEO, Sunil Prashara. The On-Demand series is available for viewing until 31 January 2021. Hello Kimberly,

Thank your for your feedback. I had a look to the URL you supplied to me and the contact with Christophe DUBI. It seems to be a big program with 101 hours of learning ... I also looked to the schedule on https://pmives2020.sched.com/ which is impressive.

Unfortunately, I think that from my side and for the specific subject I want to extract, it won't suit.

But thank you for sharing this information to me and the community (as if the dead line of the 31st of January is coming fast ...).

Best regards,

Luc Bernard

@Luc. I participated in Buenos Aires Youth Olimpic Games 2018. I know is not the same but it is closer. About your question my recommendation, just in case you did not that yet, is going to International Olympic Committee because they have lot of information mainly based on practical experience that can help you a lot.

Hello Sergio Luis,

Thank your for your feedback. In fact, we are in contact with the Paris OCOG (Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games) and according to Kiron's remark, yesterday, I asked internally to check if someone sent a request to the OCOG on the lessons learned from previous events (probably included in a playbook).

But for my first question on this forum, I choosed to check directly with people from project management to get feedback ;-)

And I really thank you for your replies and your advice.

Best regards,

Luc Bernard

You are welcome. No problem. There are lot of things to plan and coordinate and it depends on the scope of the work. For example in my case everything started from "ground zero" when the Olympic Villa was designed then constructed and ends when the people leave Argentina.
