In our case we made different meetings promoted by the PMO. The type of meetings will depend on the functions the PMO has implemented. For example, in our case, each 15 days we perform what we call "Project management refresher" where we talk about topics related to our governance method, other meeting we perform each 15 days is "Project management tools" where the focus is talk about tips and things related with the software tools we use and each month we perform hackathons to brainstorm and innovate on things we do. The PMO is part of the IT Strategy and Process Team so there is lot of things, from portfolio to projects that we are covering there.

hi sergio
its in your case the meeting its mandatory to all project Manager?
in my organizations its new PMO role
can you share a tips to get Buy-in from current PM for PMO activity...
It depends. All of the meetings should be on a purpose. We do not gather to waste our time. IT has to do with the circumstances. One of them could be reporting out on the latest status of the projects, issues and etc.

Hi abolfazi
in my organizations the word "meeting" its to formal - i think
base on your history, what kind word that you use - to still arrange the event to develop others project Manager and keep allign with Project Governance
Andrianus -

Two topics which would likely be appreciated by the group are:

1. What have you learned which you'd like to share with others?

2. What are the major blockers or impediments to delivering value and what could we do (within the PMO or senior management) to resolve those?

Adrianus,

I had good success with so called brown bag meetings over lunch time. Attendance is not mandatory, so we get 20-30% of PMs getting together, but this is ok. Also contractor like to attend.

We set a topic based on input from the group, and have 1 or 2 short pitches about this topic, then discussion and at best concrete followup (like a workshop, a process improvement, a new template). Preferably pitched by a PM from their project practice, so real stories, or from a PMO staff member.

Topics included: how to use risk management, Kanban best practices, how to run meetings efficiently, OKR basics, how to monitor benefits delivery.

Thomas
Pmo office may organize weekly or every fifteen days to allow Project Managers share experiences about their projects, innovate with bright ideas, compare new technologies in Project Management, or be updated and refreshed with Project Management Standard and Tools.

We use a similar approach to the one described by Thomas. Whether you call them lunch & learn, chat & chew or brown bag session, the idea is to create an environment that encourages and support sharing and learning.
