Validating and checking outputs is critical when working with AI systems like Generative AI. Such validation approaches may include establishing clear criteria, implementing strong testing protocols, and continuous refinement.

In your experience with AI, what are some best practices for ensuring the results you receive are accurate, relevant, and aligned with your original goals?

This is similar to human communication, where the quality of the question determines the quality of the answer. Therefore, a good prompt strategy is required, for example:
1. Data and context about the project
2. The goal of the request
3. The task that the LLM should fulfill
4. The format in which the output should be delivered.

I love how we can solve problems by being either the Voice of the Customer or the Voice of the PM.

As a project manager, when incorporating artificial intelligence into your projects, it is essential to prioritize data quality, select the right model and ensure its interpretability. In addition, it is essential to establish a continuous monitoring system to evaluate the performance of the models and adapt them to changes. By combining AI with your expertise and domain knowledge, you will be able to make more informed decisions and optimize the management of your projects. Remember that AI is a powerful tool, but its success depends on careful and ethical implementation. In other words, AI can help you predict risks, optimize resources, automate tasks and improve decision making on your projects. However, it is important that you use it responsibly and be aware of its limitations.

To ensure accurate AI usage it would be recommended to adapt certain practices such as clearly defining one's objectives with precise instructions, the revision and refinement of AI generated results through the validation with reliable sources.

Brainstorm and think through what you are looking to achieve. Try to envision variables, tangibles and specifics that meet your requirements and success criteria. Ask specific, detailed questions, and double-check your core tenants against reliable sources to ensure they are accurate. Naturally, different AI systems can sometimes require different approaches where your specific prompt might be best suited with a certain selected prompt engineering method. For instance, with a conversational AI like GPT-4, providing detailed context helps guide the conversation in the right direction.

On the other hand, consider using a predictive text AI, like those in email or messaging apps. Here, the system suggests words or phrases as you type. The more you use it and select its suggestions, the better it becomes at predicting what you want to say next. The more context and feedback you give these systems, the more aligned their responses will be with your original goals.

Know the tools in your toolbox, how they can help (not hinder). Another recommendation, ask the AI to cite their responses and add perspective.

To ensure accurate, relevant, and goal-aligned results from AI systems, use clear and specific prompts, validate the output against reliable sources, and iterate on prompts as needed. Regularly review and refine the AI’s input based on feedback and context to maintain alignment with your objectives.

One of the best tools I always use is the iterative prompt refinement. I often do not have time to elaborate too much, and I make an initial request to see the results. Based on the results I receive, I start explaining the format, the context, and what else I may need to get the exact response I need.

breaking down big items into shammer chunks and then refining as you go along helps. As it has been said you need to

Be precise and clear.
include your specific examples if you are able
Provide the context for all of your requests
Provide the format you want and the tone

I plan to use the LLM as an efficient research assistant rather than a replacement for my expertise. My approach is to leverage its speed and efficiency while relying on my own knowledge and judgment. Therefore, I will carefully review its output and check for any anomalies. Even with this thorough review, I will still save a significant amount of time.
