Have a structured approach that works well with you after continuosly testing and getting the best response, but it doesn't stop there, this is same with learning, it's an undending improvement process.

Some of the practices I implemented to get better outputs include:
1-Verification of the data source 2-Use of several LLMs 3-Iteration on the prompts as sometimes even using the same prompt may trigger different outputs 
All great answers have been suggested. The basics of questioning must be taken into account. The same model can give you excellent responses by knowing how to ask and what to ask. You probably are not the right person to ask a Model about a subject which you have no background on. You are bound to get lost.

Validating and checking the data carefully, event it seems to be accurate.
Use verification for the response. Read the response in details. Many times some small details are mistaken. Simply like we might do on our first draft of any report
