When we published our book "The Power of Enterprise PMOs and Enterprise-Wide Project Management" we anticipated the establishment of the project management organization, the PMO, as an executive-level functional business-organization within those enterprises that achieve leadership positions within their industries! That was confirmed by our Volume I PMO Case Studies, and it continues to occur as can be seen in this Volume II set of PMO Case Studies. In addition, we wanted to make it clear that the PMO of yesterday never was, the PMO of today is not, and the PMO of tomorrow never will be just simply an “office.” The PMO is, was, and will continue to be a functional “organization” for the business management of projects, project-programs, and project-portfolios, which is a Project Management Organization.
The premise that an executive level, enterprise-wide Project Business Management Organization-TM (PBMO-TM) should be created to implement and employ our Project Business Management methodology for the management of, diverse, resource intensive, and strategically aligned portfolios, programs, and projects across an enterprise is viewed as simple, yet brilliant by readers of our first three books. The first book was "Building Project Management Centers of Excellence", our second book was "The Power of Enterprise PMOs and Enterprise-Wide Project Management", and our third book was "A Compendium of PMO Case Studies – Volume I" and our fourth book "A Compendium of PMO Case Studies – Volume II" is being published in the next 45 days.
