Would you still report PDU’s to PMI if they did not count?
Network:1967

If you have cycled your PDU's early, unable to earn PDU's until a given future date, do you (or would you) still report PDU's to PMI as you watch webinar's, listen to podcasts, etc.?

Context - I cycled early, not able to earn PDU's toward my next cycle until 2019. I of course still am still active in the community; including watching and listening to PM related content, participating here, reading, etc. I have not been reporting these PDU's to PMI, but now considering if a gap in my PDU history will 'look bad'.

What do you think?

Though PMI expect 60 PDU in three years cycle you earn gradually or just in 3 days does not matter but I think still good to record PDU's for our own tracking and in certain considerations it may be useful, reporting PDU's are not a time consuming task.

Thanks for the input. True, not a difficult task, but not always convenient. But you're definitely right, I should have a story regardless if they 'count'

I really understand what you mean by "a gap in PDU history". But if you watch the webinars on here, PM.com, PDUs might be automatically reported to your PMI account. It is really good opportunity to learn more about the other dimensions of PM.

^ Oh, that is true. Good. At least some of them are recorded then.

Hi Andrew,

I have the same situation as yours exactly. I do not report manually any PDU's anymore but all PDU's for watching Webinars, attending Virtual Conferences are automatically reported so you will have no gap at all.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
RK

I use to report all PDU's
I don't do it if not needed to. With ProjectMnagement.com and local PMI it's all automatic.

You can use it for tracing purpose or if you believe you need them!

I agree with Sungjoon.

While all auto-reported Education PDUs will be automatically submitted to PMI, PDUs outside this portal need to be reported manually.

I report all PDUs, even after the cycle completion.

I'm in that exact position now. I just completed the 20 PDUs I can apply to my next cycle, and I can't start earning the remaining 40 PDUs until November.
I'm not going to report the PDUs I earn between now and November because PMI won't care about the nine month gap that will appear in my PDU record, and the gap won't negatively affect me in any way. If there's no objective benefit to be realized by reporting the PDUs, then doing so is gold plating from a project management standpoint.
