I've been doing some research on PRINCE2 lately. I will be interested in hearing the responses here, and listening to the recording when available.
Stéphane, I don't think it will have any influence.
Both are different credentials, and both have their own benefits.
Here is the link to PRINCE2 2017 Update & FAQ
Thank you for the links. Please note they announced that some of the Update material won't be posted for another week or so.
I am not very familiar with PRINCE2 but isn't it more applicable to IT professionals more than other sectors ? And where is it based, UK ?
Axelos is a joint venture between the UK government and Capita that took over the management of PRINCE2 and ITIL.
It is very interesting your question. I will write about my personal experience. Something obvious: All PMI related is not the same than PRINCE2. But PRINCE2 contains all the best practices that the PMI has been promoted by years. The world is divided by two in this case. USA and the rest of America is PMI follower. Europe, except for few cases, is PRINCE2 follower. So, I lived both worlds mainly when I have to apply DSDM (I was part of the version 1 and 2 authors). Fortunatelly both have totally diferent strategies and I hope all continue in this way. PMI delivering guides and best practices while AXELOS (mainly because the UK goverment) delivering process.
PRINCE was develop during the Margaret Thatcher era by UK to manage a growing number of projects finance by the government. ITIL is part of it, it got interest in America much earlier than the rest of Prince, now call PRINCE2. A few years ago UK made a partnership to promote the PRINCE2 and they still own 49% of AXELOS.
they have realizes that people won't retake the exam every 5 years.
I will look it up
