Has anyone heard of the book THE POWER OF WHEN?
Network:2284

I recently read something very interesting about the best time of day to get work done. According to clinical psychologist and sleep specialist Michael Breus, your genetics can tell you when it’s the perfect time to do just about anything. We all have heard the terms “early bird” or “night owl”, but there might be something to thinking about this when you work with teams. We might look for certain tasks at a time of day when each person is most productive. There is also an online quiz on this subject (takes about a minute at www.thepowerofwhenquiz.com) where you can learn your chronotype – looking at your natural sleep and genetic rhythms. He categorizes people based on this into 4 categories – dolphin, lion, bear and wolf. Being cognizant of this might help us work more efficiently with our teams. What do you think about this? I am considering using this information in a presentation I am giving at hospital on efficiencies.

Hi Maria - thanks for checking out the quick 1-minute test. I was surprised to find out that I was a Lion, but after reading through the summary, the results fit me to a T. Kind of an interesting way to look at the best time of day for team meetings, decision making, etc.

Hi Rami:

I thought it might be helpful for us as project managers to better understand times of day for our teams - could be useful in scheduling meetings or selecting best time to brainstorm or even know the optimal time to wrestle with tough project decisions.

Hello Chandrashekhar:

I got the book from Amazon.com, it was about $15.00. There is also a lot of information about the book out there. There is a good CBS news clip from September of last year with the author talking about the book. Here is a link to that segment:

@Anupam, I did twice, first with me and my habits while working LION, after with my new habits as a job hunter BEAR. Is it curious? I'm adaptative, lol

Hi Andrew: Only 10% of the overall population fall into the Lion category. I am also a Lion. I wonder if the majority of Project Managers fall into that category???

This is true Lori but I am pretty sure that you as a person and professional definitely know when you are most and when you are least productive and act accordingly.
