hi all, should we manage different SOW & P.Charter formats for internal and external projects?

i work in a telecom company which has internal (for research) and external (for clients) projects and trying to clarify the project charter and SOW contents. Most of SOW/P.Charter formats include the project cost but evident we can´t show the cost to the client so i understand we should show the sales amount in the SOW/P.Charter for external projects instead of cost . The cost is showed just for internal projects. Is that ok?

That sounds like a fine idea.

thank you. Thinking about it i questioned myself "who is the client?" whatever internal or external project. For external projects we would have 2 different clients, the "internal" one (commercial, product development, finance, mkt) for follow it up and the "external" one who will receive the final deliverable. So should we keep 2 different versions of documents for each one?

I would agree with two charters but with a slight difference. I will have one project charter, and remove the company specific confidential information before sharing the same with external team. Having two completely different charters may dilute the very purpose of project charter.

I worked as Krishna, we only had one template or project charter and remove the confidential information.

Agree with Krishna, the more you can keep it streamlined without having to manage 2 documents the better!

"It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars and so on -- whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man -- for precisely the same reasons."
