Hi David: It is great that you asked for advice in this forum.
As Praveen Malik rightly said, PMI's PMBOK is a standard, not a framework,
If you are looking for material on leveraging the content of the framework, there are several blogs and articles on projectmanagement.com which you will find extremely useful.
If you are looking for practical, proven solutions to 20 of the largest global project failure factors, please message me about a recently released book I authored. Saving Changes...
PMI's Pulse of the Profession research has indicated a few times over the past decade the benefit is following a consistent approach to project management, but I doubt there's any research that shows an approach based on the PMBOK is superior to one based on any of the other PM standards out there...
First thing to understand is PMBOK is not a framework. It is a compilation of best practices. Take a look to the definitions about Guide and Best Practices inside it. Second, it has not sense to search for statistics because "ti home is a new world". Third, everything you will find into the PMBOK is what people do each day of their life from the time they wake up to the time they go to bed. Saving Changes...
