There are over 200 tools and techniques withing the 47 processes, have you ever been formally trained on any? If so when, where, how and by whom?

Well now with PMBOK 6 and I believe the 49 processes, there is a process called "Manage Project Knowledge" and one of the tools and techniques is "Knowledge Management". I was trained in Boston USA some 16 years ago as a Certified Knowledge Manager. I lost my certificates a long time ago, but the awarding body was either the International Knowledge Management Institute (KMI) or the Knowledge Management Consortium International (KMCI). This was back when KM was one of the big buzz words. It seems to have made a resurgence of late. Maybe I need to get my certificates re-issued.

Teresa -

I took a course a long time back in CCM which has been dropped in v6 but was a tool/technique in v5's Develop Schedule process. I think it was through IIL but am not 100% positive of that.

Good question. I was never formally trained on any technique or too. I learned about them on my own as I needed them, then I adapted them to my particular requirements.

Eric,

An this the underlying reason I established my company in support of project mangers! We are called upon to USE with litter to know instruction on HOW. My work integrates creativity and the tools of creative problem solving INTO the tools of project management to better generate/vet select ideas and solutions to complex and ambiguous challenges.

I love hosting webinars, writing and presenting/training to chapters and companies.

I've learned techniques through university classes, commercial training and, of course, through trial and error. :)
