Is the Project Management role really lost in a SCRUM "environment"?

Not at all. Once again, as you mentioned, is a role. So, find the role description and you will find the role into Scrum. But for more information take a look to PMI´s Software Extension to the PMBOK or the Agile Guide recently published by the PMI.

project management as a discipline or set of interrelated activities is required on ALL projects regardless of their delivery approach.

Having a dedicated PM on a small Scrum project might not be needed, but the moment it scales in complexity or size, a PM will add value.

Carlos, as Kiron and Sergio clearly pointed out, the PM role is still alive. The Scrum Master is acting on a more tactical level, whereas the PM role is more positioned on a strategical level (Release Planning, Stakeholder Management,...). Both roles fit together, especially in scaled environments as Kiron emphasized.
