There is an option in your PMI profile to turn on automatic renewal but that is not enabled automatically (no pun intended). I just received my renewal notice and there was a card indicating that I had this option for auto-renewal but it's still my choice whether or not I take advantage of that convenience.
Not sure if others are seeing something different with their profiles.
Thank you for your comment, yes, I renewed a few months ago, and I chose not automatically renew it, it's for that I was curious about these comments that I saw this morning in Social Media (LinkedIn) and I'm looking for the community comments.
I prefer to renew by myself, don't like those automated renewal.
I certainly didn't check for the option, my renewal is due soon.
I always opt out of auto renewals where I can or have the option. In PMI's case, you have the option I believe so I am not sure why people would have issues unless they are not aware.
I am not set to auto-renew, though I do not remember what the default option is. That's when people get surprised. You don't think to check or notice if the option is checked by default, or the intent is good, but it catches you by surprise.
I did not recieve any specific email related to this.
I did receive an e-mail with the subject " Reminder: Take the final step toward PMP renewal" and probably that was for the reason that I have accumulated the required number of PDUs to renew. But I was wondering, what effect will it have, as I still have more than 1000 days util renewal.
Should I renew now?
Will my PDUs cycle reset and do I have to earn the PDUs again?
When we do the PMI membership renewal, it automatically takes AUTO RENEWAL by default. We have to manually go back to membership page and un-check AUTO RENEWAL option.
This thread is about PMI membership renewal, not designation renewal, but to answer your question, you can renew as early as one day into the current three year cycle. PMI will just add the three years off the next cycle to the end of the current one so you lose nothing by recertifying early.
Only for your information, I requested a little more information to the PM how posted this information in LinkedIn.
I'll keep all you posted.
