Dear PM professionals, I have a request regarding the configuration management audits, PCA, FCA and process audit, can anyone help me with the audit process, checklist, previous audit examples, but not for software CM only, since I have both software and hardware in my project, another thing how to link the audit to the quality and risk management process as well.

Were these audits not already flagged in your quality management plan?

dear Stéphane, it already flagged as a part of the QM plan, but going to the practical side of how to carry out this type of audits, this is what my question about.

Your question, for me, has some level of confusion. Let me try to explain, You have Configuration Management process and environment. The main components in Configuration Management are: Configuration Identification, Configuration Control, Configuration Status Accounting, Configuration Audit, Are you talking about the last one?

Dear Sergio, exactly my question is about the configuration audit including PCA, FCA and process audit, I have a good experience with auditing quality management system from the process point of view, but when it comes to the CM, I believe that this type of audit is quite different "if i'm not wrong", so my question was about CM audit and if someone has got an example, checklist, previous audit samples, type of findings

Are you responsible to carry out the audits or will it be done by external auditors?

Configuration Management and Quality are totally different things. Both can exists in independent way. Obviously Configuration Management is critical to be in place when you try to implement things like Trazability as a component of Quality Process. Returning to Configuration Management I can write a lot but becasue it is not enough space here my recomendation is: 1-Go to the https://www.pmi.org/pmbok-guide-standards/...ion-management. While it is for project configuration management it could help.
2-search for IEEE standards. You will find them into the internet. While some of them are related to software do not worry about it. It can be use as examples to implement configuration management in other areas.

Yes, I'm requested from the management to carryout the CM audit by myself

I'm guessing you did not include the CM audit process/steps in your quality management plan. I hope you at least budgeted for the associated effort.

Looks like you'll have to update your QMP and probably your project schedule..

The only CM audit activity I am experienced with is doing a baseline validation. This activity requires you to validate that all configuration items in a baseline are the correct version. (You may have different baselines for each environment.)
