Hi Patrick, I got my PMI-ACP certification last year, I used the PMI-ACP Exam Prep Study Guide: Extra Preparation for PMI-ACP Certification Examination by Vivek Vaishampayan to prepare for the exam. The exam was more practical based i.e. what should you do in a certain situation.

No worries, for the PMI-ACP make sure you are using the most up to date guide though as I had to start the exam twice (first time I failed a certification exam). As my first attempt, I took the exam when it changed to a newer format so the guide I read was out of date and it affected me unfortunately. On my 2nd attempt, I used that book and passed my exam.

Hello Patrick, I have just taken PMI-ACP exam and done with it successfully. I use the study material from IzenBridge created by Saket Bansal. That is really very helpful and self sufficient. You can also refer the success stories from Izen Bridge Forum which will take you half a way itself. And with the dedicated preparation for a month from the given material will give a good success in PMI_ACP as per my experience of it.

Agile practice guide is a good read and comprehensive. I am also preparing to appear in ACP exam in a month time. I am following Mike Griffiths ACP exam prep book and questions from a bunch of resources. How good it is? Well that I can share in a months time

Patrick -

I got my ACP this summer using Andy Crowe's book as a reference. Having read the new Agile Practice Guide, I feel that it does do a good job of covering the basic underlying content which the exam questions are geared towards and is not geared towards any one specific agile delivery methodology. I would still recommend using some sort of online or hardcopy set of practice exam questions before you sit for the exam.

A couple of additional tips:

1. Answer questions from the point-of-view of an agile lead/Scrum Master
2. You have to know the Manifesto values & principles very well as a lot of scenario questions will test whether you adopt the agile mindset
3. Most of the practice questions were based on Scrum. There were a (very) few tied to Lean, Kanban and XP.
