Network:1586

PMI-RMP is one of the certification plan this year. Appreciate if our seniors could give their invaluable advice. What is your journey/guidance you could share to obtain PMI-RMP credential? Thank you once again.

I have heard/read that the PMP is the hardest of all certifications at PMI, so while the others such as RMP and ACP etc. are very difficult, the PMP should give you a decent benchmark to follow.

Can you elaborate on why you feel it was more difficult? Were there alot of "trick" questions? Or was it the content? More calculations?

Appreciate your sharing. Hope that if one day when I have decided to pursue this certification, you could be my Guru later. Thank you again.

Pui Chee -

When I wrote the RMP exam in 2011, I found it much simpler than the PMP which I'd written in 2000. So even though many years had passed since I'd been in a formal examination situation which should have increased my stress, I didn't have much difficulty with it.

I re-read the RM & Stakeholder Management chapters of the PMBOK Guide as well as skimming through the Risk Management standard. I've also subscribed to Dr. Hillson's Risk Doctor briefings for ages so I quickly skimmed over those.

Then, I did a few practice exams from pmstar.org (there are other providers - they just happen to be Canada-based).

Be aware that PMI is in the early stages of refreshing the Risk Management standard - once this is done (mid-late 2018?), they will likely refresh the RMP to reflect changes in its content as well as the changes from the Sixth Edition of the PMBOK Guide.

Thank you for your input. I am stressing a bit about this exam because that is what I do. I have not been doing as well as I would like on the practice exams but I will keep at it until I feel more comfortable.

Slightly related. Im about to accept a new job as Sr Project Manager for company that focuses and are specialists in risk management and consultancy. While risk management has always be one of my functions as a PM, Im now getting more focused in this discipline and will consider the PMI-RMP accreditation when my hours are up. Could you recommend a good short online Risk Management course? Or publication?

Im about to review Dr. Hillson's Risk Doctor briefings as mentioned by Kiron.
