Panasonic Mobile Communications Development Corporation of USA., Suwanee, GA:
President, 2005 – 2008

Lead the turnaround and resulting success of the wireless product development operation of Panasonic in the Americas. This included rebuilding the management team and sourcing essential key contributors and implementing significant process improvement methodologies. Managed a budget of $60M annually with an operation that peaked at 350 employees distributed throughout the world (US, Germany, France, China, and Japan). Successes included:

- Product launches: Developed and launched multiple products to ATT Wireless in the US leading to sales of more than 3 million unites.
-Launched Panasonic’s first smart phone with Vodafone in Europe and China Mobile.
- Facilities: Opened software development center in Calgary, AB.
-Process improvement: Introduced new product development and software development methodologies that were later adopted by Panasonic worldwide.

Glenayre Electronics, Wireless Messaging Group., New York, NY:
President and General Manager, 1993 – 1999

Brought in initially by Glenayre to turnaround the RF Product division in Quincy, IL. After four years, was transferred to Vancouver, BC to lead the entire global operation from our manufacturing and product development center in Canada. Annual sales of $150 to $350M. Accomplishments Include:

- Profitable operation: Managed profitable product portfolio with significant margins on both switch and transmitted products.
- Restructuring: Realigned operations consistent with growing market pressure associated the financial decline of major clients.
- Capacity growth: Raised the sense of urgency and instituted new processes to grow wireless manufacturing output from $6M to $20M per month.

NEC America Inc., Mobile Radio Division., Hawthorne, CA:
Manager, Engineering, 1984 – 1993

Responsible for all field technical issues for NEC cellular and paging products in the US. Led the development of product plans as the key liaison for research and development in Japan. Led NEC’s efforts to contribute to and influence US wireless protocol standards. Accomplishments Include:

- Manufacturing transfer: Rapidly started up local manufacturing of transportable cellphones after a trade injunction issued against NEC by the FTC.
- Program management: Led the effort to develop and launch the first credit-card sized pager for SkyTel.
