Gerhard Tekes is an independent consultant, as well as the founding principle of 3PTA, Organizational Project Management, which exists to help organizations gathering excellence and to enhance their results applying proven best practices for organizational project, program and portfolio management and strategic planning.
Gerhard lectures at the Laureate - UNIFACS about Business Process Management, Strategic Planning and Organizational Project Management, Surfing Complexity, Implementing Change Management, Risk Management, Procurement Management, PM-Frameworks, Program and Portfolio Management and Canvas use in Project, Program and Portfolio Management.
He managed, supported and assessed Projects up to $US3,6Bi and Organizational Project Management in companies like Petrobras, Toyo Engineering, Anglo America, MCSA, NEDL, EcoPetrol, Braskem, Camargo Corrêa and in the governmental sector. He supports his clients in English, German, Portuguese and Spanish.

Gerhard managed and participated in a wide gap of projects in several industries:
Gas Pipeline and Construction: He supported NEDL doing the planning for the 5 spreads of the Gas Pipeline Catu-Pilar, leading a team of 5 Planning Engineers and 10 planning technicians, getting the planning approved with the client, Petrobras, and in a second contract, prepared the documentation for over US$800Mi value of Claims;
Maintenance: He signed responsible for the maintenance stop of the platform PV from Petrobras within a functional structure, led by the technical coordinator;
Maintenance: He optimized the monthly maintenance stops at the refining plant from Yamana Gold Mining in Jakobina, reducing the duration by 2-4hrs per stop;
Mining: He managed together with two technical coordinators the recovery of the underground mining deepening project at the Mineração Caraíba SA and helped the company to consolidate already existing knowledge in Project Management and to implement Risk Management;
Mining & Portfolio Management: He assessed, subcontracted by Human Systems, the Portfolio Management of Anglo America in South America and assessed 2 major greenfield mining projects including port and a pipeline construction;
OPM3 at Petrochemical & Portfolio Management: I supported Braskem implementing Portfolio Management and a FEL based project lifecycle in 2004 and assessed and created an improvement plan for Portfolio and Project Management in a rigorous OPM3 assessment for several plants at 3 sites in 2012 ;
OPM3 at Oil and Gas & Portfolio Management: I supported EcoPetrol implementing Portfolio and Program Management and a FEL based Project Management Lifecycle in 2008 within a rigorous OPM3 assessment based Process Improvement Project and we reassessed EcoPetrol for 4 Executive Vice-Presidencies and sites in several countries in 2010, creating a new improvement plan to be reassessed in 2013/2014.
Program Performance, Civil Engineering and Railway Construction: He supported Camargo Corrêa at the performance recovery of the US$1,5Bi railway program EEFC with 3 projects including 76 bridges and 860km railway, increasing monthly turnover in 3 month by 800%.
Sanitation and Government: 2014 and 2015, Gerhard coordinated a program for the governmental agencies CREA-BA and FUNASA constituted by 50 projects aimed to deliver at 50 of the poorest villages in the interior of the brazilian Bahia state Basic Sanitation Plans to enable the access of this villages to public construction funds.

Within PMI, Gerhard has a long history of giving back to the community, sharing and learning as a volunteer.
He collaborated with all edition of PMBOK(r) Guide, having been a SME reviewer for the 5th Edition and the OPM3 Knowledge Foundation 3rd Edition. OPM3 2nd Edition he served as deputy at the architects team and helped later on in the marketing team with Soren Poskrog.
Gerhard served as an officer as Director for Social Responsibility at the PMI Bahia Chapter, as Community Outreach Lead at the Diversity Community of Practice and as Knowledge Delivery Lead at the OPM Community of Practice, where, within other knowledge experiences, he delivered over 50 webinars and helped to increase membership from 9.000 to over 30.000 within 2 years.
Gerhard was part of the committee which selected the PMO of the year 2013 and 2014 and part of the committee which selected the presentations for the LIM and the NA Global Congress from 2012 - 2014.
Gerhard sat on the early OPM3 Focus Group (2008) and the OPM3 advisory board during several years, in his last year (2010) as a deputy together with council lead Tom Keuten.
He is a seasoned speaker and was invited to present at inumerous national and international congresses.
He served as well as a Liaison with the PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF). His lifetime project is to bring Project Management education to primary public schools in Brazil.
