You have probably read or heard of the magic formula “7% of communication is transmitted by words, 38% by tone of voice and 55% by body language!”, described as a universal rule of communication. Is this really so?
Standardized Work (SW) is a document that precisely outlines the description of each step required to complete a certain task. The document also captures the cycle time for each task, minimum level of inventory required as well as the classification of each task step as "value added" or "non value added". A SW document describes the most efficient way to process a certain task at any given point in time, and forms the baseline for process improvement.
An Information Radiator is a publicly posted display that shows people walking by information they care about without having to ask anyone a question. Typically information radiators are big, very easy to see, and change often enough to be worth revisiting. Online files and Web pages generally do not make good information radiators, because an information radiator needs to be visible without significant effort on the part of the viewer.
Parametric Estimation as the name suggests is based on parameters, a number of units you need to do. In many cases based on industry published tables, then adjusted by region and season. Some large organizations have built detailed historical data that can be used.
5S represents Japanese words that describe the steps of a workplace organization process. English equivalent words are shown in parenthesis.
War Room is a room dedicated to a project to provide communication and collaboration space for a project team. A room used for conferences and planning that is often specially equipped (as with computers, or charts).A room where people meet and exchange plans, ideas, information, etc., in an active way.
