While the number of project management frameworks (COBIT, PMBOK, PRINCE2, SCRUM, SAFe) continues to increase, the number of approaches to project management used by organizations and practitioners appear to be decreasing. Although other useful approaches to managing projects surely exist, many publications now promote the use of two (2) primary approaches - Predictive and Agile. This webinar will compare and contrast three (3) meaningful Life Cycle Approaches - Predictive, Iterative and Agile. In doing so, it will look at the implications of the ‘Knowledge Environment’ on the life cycle approaches and attempt to equip project management practitioners with the knowledge necessary to adopt a leadership style that allows them to thrive in this environment by working with the sponsoring organization in selecting the right approach for managing the project at hand based on its attributes.

Jul 25, 2019 11:00 AM EDT (UTC-4)
PREMIUM webinar

We have witnessed the dawn of a new era of advancing technology. In the mid-1990s, fundamental research exploded and placed the foundation for advancement as well as the commercialization of products. That was history and now the creation of another technology race, somewhat like what we experienced during the Internet era, but moving faster and larger in terms of potential $$$ dollars. Quantum technology has created a global race that has resulted in multiple commercial product lines that have already begun to see real-world business application. The forecasted culmination of just three areas of quantum technology could grow by 4 or 5 times by 2025. It sure looks like a sci-fi flick! Gartner projects that by 2023, 20% of organizations will be budgeting from quantum computing projects. Time to get ready.

In this study, the author(s) consolidated the knowledge accumulated over seven decades of PPM research. By reviewing this extensive body of work, they have identified 17 PPM principles grouped into four distinct categories. These principles have significantly shaped how organizations understand PPM. To facilitate practical implementation, they developed a framework that allows organizations to evaluate their adherence to these 17 PPM principles. This framework serves as a valuable tool for organizations, enabling them to identify areas where improvements can be made, thereby enhancing their PPM practices.
