Jan 26, 2022 11:00 AM EST (UTC-5)

The subject of sustainability has received a lot of attention in recent times. It is slowly moving from understanding it as a global phenomenon to action what we can, as professionals in business and industry, do in the larger interest of preparing for the future. For Project Managers this is a unique opportunity to contribute beyond the immediate objectives outlined for their projects.

Sustainability-Focused Project Leader: Why We Are Uniquely Placed To Deliver the Sustainability Transformation

Dec 21, 2022 10:00 AM EST (UTC-5)
PREMIUM webinar

Bringing a sustainable future into our grasp relies upon the successful execution of thousands of well-conceived projects. Project management and project leaders are critical in achieving more sustainable practices. Executives must provide them with more flexibility in managing projects, moving past the traditional “iron triangle” of project management — managing time, budget, and quality. Sustainability cannot be achieved simply through rigid planning and traditional project targets. Project managers must be unleashed to reach these goals innovatively. CEOs should empower a new kind of sustainability-focused project manager to lead organizational transformation. The Project Management Office (PMO) can play an important role when analyzing new project ideas. It should develop new guidelines for sponsors and managers to increase the focus of their projects on such sustainable outcomes and benefits.

Sustainable Supply Chain Management - A Project Management Perspective

Jan 31, 2024 11:00 AM EST (UTC-5)
PREMIUM webinar

Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the practice of coordinating sourcing, production, inventory management and transportation among all the actors and focuses on speed, cost and reliability of operations. Sustainable SCM adds the goals of environmental and social values to it and this means addressing global issues such as climate change, water security, deforestation, human rights, fair labour practices corruption etc. In short we have to consider all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. SCM is inherently operational though various projects could be identified within the chain. The Sustainability paradigm has added another dimension for projects within SCM because many of the initiatives being discussed now and in the near future are in fact projects. These are guided by the recent interest in principles and practices of circular economy, sustainable sourcing waste recovery & management, resource efficiency, reverse logistics etc among others. At some point in time, possibly in the coming decade, sustainability as a mindset will be fully set and one would view it as a an operational parameter, till then all efforts to become sustainable will be achieved largely through projects.

Sustaining Performance in Energy Project Management

Jun 13, 2022 12:00 PM EDT (UTC-4)
PREMIUM webinar

With rising environmental concerns and global warming, there is an increase demand for electricity and other alternative energy sources around the globe, to deliver clean, reliable and affordable energy. Energy industries encompass a broad group of sectors - oil and natural gas, coal, nuclear, wind, solar, hydro, geothermal etc. Each of these industries contain very different types of organizations, and what constitutes risk in wind projects is far different than in nuclear. But they all share a similar challenge; to produce more energy at a lower cost with fewer emissions.

Systematic Innovation in Complex Environments

Mar 19, 2019 1:00 PM EDT (UTC-4)
PREMIUM webinar

As the world becomes more inter-connected, it becomes inherently more complex and more prone to tipping into chaos. This phenomenon is not helped by the fact that most individuals do not understand the differences between how complex systems work. A lot of our assumptions are plain wrong when it comes to complexity – we look for root causes when there are none; we adopt command-and-control management strategies when self-organisation is the only viable method; and we fail to recognise that whenever discontinuous change happens, things will get worse before they get better. This webinar offers a crash-course in complex systems theory and provides real-world examples of how enterprises that embrace the complexity are progressively displacing traditional organisations.
