Despite this truth, risk is often considered a taboo topic. There are executives, sponsors and clients that don’t want to hear about problems. They don’t want to consider what can go wrong. They don’t want to hear the possibility of negative impacts, and they aren’t prepared to see a status indicator of yellow, let alone red. If this sounds in any way familiar, then this is a webinar that you will want to attend. We’ll explore why risk is a four-letter word and why it is important to appropriately manage risk nonetheless. Most importantly, we’ll give you strategies to manage risks effectively even when no one wants to acknowledge that they exist.

It seems that many projects are now using a Smartsheet to track Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Decisions through a RAID log. Proponents argue that this centralized approach enhances transparency and ensures that all stakeholders have access to the same information, facilitating better communication and coordination. They state that all stakeholders can access, update it, filter to get the information they want, and track all components. But wait, many organizations throw a RAID log “over the wall” and expect it to be immediately an intuitive communication solution for the project. This is a dangerous assumption. Just creating a RAID log is easy, but the stakeholders need to understand the actual governance of the RAID items and the rules required to track them. This presentation will focus on defining tasks / activities / user stories to assist the project manager in properly defining the security workstream in a project. We will explore a case study where a RAID was not properly introduced in a larger project, and it became more of a nuance than a benefit and how to be effective the next time one is used.
