It seems that many projects are now using a Smartsheet to track Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Decisions through a RAID log. Proponents argue that this centralized approach enhances transparency and ensures that all stakeholders have access to the same information, facilitating better communication and coordination. They state that all stakeholders can access, update it, filter to get the information they want, and track all components. But wait, many organizations throw a RAID log “over the wall” and expect it to be immediately an intuitive communication solution for the project. This is a dangerous assumption. Just creating a RAID log is easy, but the stakeholders need to understand the actual governance of the RAID items and the rules required to track them. This presentation will focus on defining tasks / activities / user stories to assist the project manager in properly defining the security workstream in a project. We will explore a case study where a RAID was not properly introduced in a larger project, and it became more of a nuance than a benefit and how to be effective the next time one is used.
