With COVID and social movements including the Great Resignation and Quiet Quitting, we are experiencing unprecedented numbers of employees leaving the workforce, either physically or mentally, in order to avoid high stress and burnout and bring a better sense of balance to their lives. All this, while the ongoing number of projects and change organizations are taking on to remain competitive and satisfy their customers continues to rise. To maintain and grow their customer base, organizations seek out, listen to and leverage their customers to influence decisions.

It seems that many projects are now using a Smartsheet to track Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Decisions through a RAID log. Proponents argue that this centralized approach enhances transparency and ensures that all stakeholders have access to the same information, facilitating better communication and coordination. They state that all stakeholders can access, update it, filter to get the information they want, and track all components. But wait, many organizations throw a RAID log “over the wall” and expect it to be immediately an intuitive communication solution for the project. This is a dangerous assumption. Just creating a RAID log is easy, but the stakeholders need to understand the actual governance of the RAID items and the rules required to track them. This presentation will focus on defining tasks / activities / user stories to assist the project manager in properly defining the security workstream in a project. We will explore a case study where a RAID was not properly introduced in a larger project, and it became more of a nuance than a benefit and how to be effective the next time one is used.

As the world is facing a huge gap for 25 million new project management professionals, understanding and promoting the strengths of women and those identifying as women in the profession is critical. Recent data from PMI, presented in March of 2023, indicates that male project managers outnumber female project managers 3:1. Research has shown however that traits like empathy, listening, collaborative and servant leadership, key traits associated with female managers, enhance engagement and collaboration. In this presentation you will learn more about the differences between men and women as managers; the benefits that women bring to projects and organizations; how to improve your boardroom influence with executive presence behaviors; and you will discover tactics that elevate your success as a female project manager.

This webinar will introduce you to a free tool aimed at evaluation and improving your (and your project team’s) Work from Home (WFH) experience. Like millions of others, I started working from home in 2020. Most of my clients also started working from home and I was asked a range of questions related to how to work from home effectively. Being involved in the interior fitout business I was keen to provide some answers and having conducted extensive research and discussions I have identified nine key elements to keep in mind when working from home. This is especially applicable to project managers as they need to work from home themselves and ensure their project team members are able to work from home optimally. The WFH calculator works as follows: read the information pertaining to each element and give yourself a score for each element. This is known as your baseline score. Identify elements where you gave yourself a low score and make some changes (as per the recommendations in the guide) aimed at improving your score on the particular element/s in question. Rescore yourself monthly as you make changes.
