Overview

When you are mandated to use Earned Value Management, apply a 0/100 method to measure completion of Stories and Tasks.

Importance

It is possible to maintain ANSI/EIA-748 reporting compliance
  • Replace velocity with EV metrics
  • Create measures of budgeted cost of work performed (BCWP) using "testable stories"
  • Establish the Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled (BCWS) baseline at the beginning of each iteration
  • Capture Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP) through a time keeping system
  • Compute Cost Variance, Schedule Variance from the three base earned value metrics
  • Compute Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Completion (ETC) from these base metrics as well
