Almost every article that comes into my inbox these days is something about artificial intelligence. My CEO has asked me to report at an upcoming shareholder meeting about how we can use AI to increase our productivity and profitability. I don’t have any idea! Should I just be honest with her that I don’t know anything about the topic, or do I have any other options​?

A. Although AI is the new hot topic, it is not useful in all projects. If you are not working with information technology or other similar parts of the organization where computerized knowledge is crucial to the project, just retain your current ways of doing things.

B. Perhaps you should get a free version of ChatGPT and ask about the plusses and minuses of using AI in project management. Then you have a roadmap to assess what to try out and what to watch out for in your specific scenario.

C. There is significant concern among those who are knowledgeable at a much higher level of intellect than many of us that AI poses a major threat to all of business. It is similar to allowing all of your competitors to access all of your processes, customers and trade secrets that provide an advantage right now. Avoid AI at all costs!
