Improving Communication With AI
I am increasingly hearing from frustrated PMs whose employers won’t allow them to use artificial intelligence to help them manage their projects.
And I am increasingly hearing from business leaders who are frustrated that they are having to deal with unapproved AI usage while they are developing their guidelines and policies for that use.
And in the meantime, those organizations aren’t benefitting from AI, while their competitors just might be.
The solution must be for organizations to develop and communicate their processes for when and how to use AI—and to do so in a timely manner—while committing to evolve and improve them.
But in the meantime, there is one particular scenario where projects can leverage AI capabilities with virtually no risk—and some significant potential benefits. That’s when it comes to communications, particularly those that aren’t always read and understood by the audience (status reports are a perfect example).
There are several AI tools that will produce graphical reports with charts, tables and well-formatted lists using any number of different templates, but that’s not what I’m talking about. Those come with a cost, and they require the submission of project data to them—which again runs into the need to develop policies and processes for the management and control of that
