Continual Project Management: Adaptability and Resiliency
Preface
In an effort to document my journey—including both the successes and failures over the past 18 months since leaving corporate life—I thought using the 12 principles in project management would be a great way to outline the foundation and structure. It also seemed a productive way to organize my thoughts and experiences into a logical format (from my best efforts, anyway) so that it may serve as a guide to others.
When we last left our hero (me of course), he had just accepted a layoff and began a whirlwind adventure into the unknown in an attempt to find meaning and purpose to not only his life, but life in general outside corporate America. Let’s see how he’s doing…
Problem Statement
I awake to my motorcycle and everything I own stolen. This forces me to face the harsh reality that all my plans are now no longer feasible. I now must determine how to design a positive outcome from this major setback.
Situational Breakdown
I had a plan to visit the remaining National Parks in the United States. I was 55 National Parks deep and wanted to experience the few that were remaining on my motorcycle. Experiencing nature on a motorcycle to me was the only way to fully embrace them it in their entirety. From the motorcycle it exposed me to the weather, the wildlife, and the beauty up close and personal.
