The digital economy of the 21st century is being reshaped by new opportunities arising from data analytics and digital technologies. These advancements are disrupting traditional project management practices by transforming how organizations recognize and value the skills of data-savvy individuals. These new talents are now integral to decision-making processes and contribute to improved project delivery.

Current research on digital transformation in project management has primarily focused on the technologies that can help organizations succeed, often overlooking the disruptions these technologies cause to human and social capital within projects. Given that people play a critical role in project success, this study expands beyond the technological focus and highlights the importance of human capital in project settings.

This newly published PMI-funded research explores talent management strategies in project-oriented organizations, seeking to understand how to leverage the advantages of the data-driven era and digital transformation. It emphasizes building an inclusive workplace prepared for the influx of new data-savvy talents entering the project management profession.
