From Merriam-Webster's Dictionary:
Team
1 a : two or more draft animals harnessed to the same vehicle or implement or 4 : a number of persons associated together in work or activity.

When you look at your team, which definition do you see reflected back at you? Whether you have heard at the water hole...I mean cooler...that your team could use a little mental rehab, or if they are literally at each other's throats, action needs to be taken--and fast. Guess where this responsibility lies? That's right, another job for Super PM!

We have all seen it before: the IT staff taking bets on how long the project manager is going to last. Obviously, this is the worst possible scenario your IT organization could be in. Not only is the team negative, but they are also projecting negativity to everyone around them. Mob mentality? You bet, and it can drive even the most dedicated project manager to self destruct. Now, how do we go about turning this culture around? Well, we start off by analyzing who we have in the project manager role.

It is always difficult to come into an environment and jump right in and lead a team, which is what most project managers are asked to do. However, the task becomes monumental when you have to lead and motivate a group of people who have been abused by either past project workload, or perhaps poor management by previous project managers.
