In this article, I’m putting you to work! I want real input from you—I want your experiences, thoughts, and opinions. Why? I want to get a sense of how AI is doing in the real world—your worlds.

When I speak to different groups, I hear a lot of different stories:

  • When I speak with companies producing project and portfolio management software with AI capabilities built in, they are generally very upbeat about the progress that they are making. They are also happy to share customer case studies demonstrating how AI is making a real difference in how they operate and to the results that they achieve.
  • But when I talk to a lot of organizations that are investing in (and leveraging) AI, I’m more often than not hearing a different story. They talk about frustrations with implementations, challenges integrating AI with existing applications and data, issues with user adoption and aligning AI with business practices, and so on. While some are achieving positive outcomes, it tends to be more pockets of success rather than consistent, enterprise-wide improvements.
  • Then, when I get the thoughts of practitioners, I hear a different story again. I hear of either a lack of governance and guidelines, or restrictive policies that prevent AI being used. People tell me that they are allowed to use any tool in any way that they want, or that they are only …
