Episodes & Debates for Teaching Project Management: A Pedagogical Innovation
In this article, I present a new pedagogical approach that I developed and successfully used for teaching project management. In this innovative approach, I aim to address three pedagogical challenges:
- How to help students bridge the course content and contemporary business debates
- How to help students bridge the course to their professional interests and increase their course engagement
- How to make the classroom experience more self-developing and fulfilling for the instructor
Just like watching the new episode of a series, a popular debate topic is released each week. The topic is chosen either by the instructor or by the students. The instructor prepares an input on the topic in the form of a short article, a video, a podcast, or the like, which the students can review in five minutes.
The originality of the work is thus essential. It must result from knowledge production and exploration by the instructor, which is why the approach involves learning from both sides. It does not refer to a passive approach where the course materials and videos found elsewhere are shared. It can be based on the instructor’s own research or industrial activities.
AI tools facilitate the instructor's task at this stage and make the information presentation format more attractive, i.e., videos with avatars and AI-generated podcasts. This content is shared with
