Fast-Track Coaching for Derailed Time and Task Management Skills (Part 1 of 2)
I'm always nagging you to use coaching to solve problems. It's certainly one of the more powerful techniques you can use to improve performance in your project, but who should you consider coaching first? Let me recommend that you tackle inadequacies in time and task management first. Okay, this is not the most exiting issue before you, but problems here are typically widespread and definitively debilitating to your project. What's more, coaching may be the only realistic way of solving these problems before it's too late.
Identify the Employees Who Need Help
A worker who has problems managing time and tasks can have virtually any job title: team lead, manager, supervisor, designer, analyst, etc. You may already know workers with these problems because of experience with their previous work or because a skill gap was identified during the selection process for the project. Another way to identify workers who need help is to look for one or more symptoms of inadequate time and task management skills. See the sidebar for details.
