What's His Name Again?: Harmony in the Workplace

Okay, so maybe you don’t want to meet for drinks this weekend, but you do want your project to go smoothly--not to mention you career.  What steps can you take with your coworkers to ensure that they feel you are as much on their side as your own?  Change your thinking around. Make a mental switch from thinking of those people as “coworkers” and consider them your “customers.” Ask yourself how you would treat a customer.  What would you do for that customer?  Would you go that extra mile?  Offer them assistance if they were presented with a problem? Of course you would, you’re that type of person!  Then why would you not do the same for individuals you work with every day?  There’s the key.  Now let’s review some ideas to guide you down the path to a utopian workplace!

I think that I have seen training classes for just about every problem we can think of in today’s business place.  However, I don’t see a whole lot of workshops on relationships among coworkers.  There are naturally varied seminars offered on “team building,” today’s favorite buzzword, but not on the actual interactions between you and "Bob who works two cubes down."  Take it from me: An invitation to lunch is a …
